Your Child’s Subject Booklets
From Tuesday, 10 November 2026, your child will be bringing their subject booklets home. I want to explain what these booklets are, how they are used in lessons, and how they can help you support your child’s learning at home.
What the booklets are
Each booklet is a curriculum resource written by our subject specialists. It sets out the essential knowledge your child needs to learn in that unit, in the order it is taught. It includes clear explanations, key vocabulary, diagrams, and short tasks that help pupils practice and remember what they have learnt.
Teachers use the booklets to guide lessons, but they are not a workbook to be filled in from cover to cover. The most important thing is that your child knows and remembers the content, not how full the pages are.
Please do not worry about blank sections
You may notice that some sections or tasks in the booklet have not been completed. This is normal and is not a cause for concern. It usually means the teacher chose a different way to teach that piece of knowledge, for example through questioning, a live demonstration on the board, or work in your child’s exercise book. Your child will still have been taught that content, even if the page itself is blank.
How the booklets help at home
The booklet gives you a clear picture of exactly what your child is learning in lessons. It also links directly to their homework, which is designed to help them revisit and remember the most important knowledge from the booklet.
You can help by:
- asking your child to show you what they are studying in each subject and explain one thing they have learnt
- using the key words and definitions in the booklet to quiz them for a few minutes
- completing any unfinished sections together as additional practice at home
Thank you for your continued support
Finally, we would just like to say how proud we are of the way our students have returned to school following the half-term break. From the moment they stepped back into the Academy, they have demonstrated an outstanding attitude and a focused work ethic, throwing themselves into their studies with genuine enthusiasm and determination. Their conduct directly reflects our core values: they have shown integrity by taking full ownership of their learning, they have demonstrated respect for their teachers and peers in the classroom and in social spaces and their infectious positivity has energised our entire school community. We could not be prouder of their hard work and the wonderful standard they have set for the rest of the term.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs H Craddock
Principal
