  • Y9 Health and Social Care Event – Barnsley Metrodome – Wednesday 20th November Y9 Health and Social Care Event – Barnsley Metrodome – Wednesday 20th November

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for any Y9 students interested in studying Health and Social Care. Barnsley Health and Care Partners have invited your child to attend a highly interactive and unique health and social care ‘We Care into the Future’ careers event at Barnsley Metrodome on Wednesday 20th November, which will introduce students to a wide range of job opportunities in health and social care. Students will be able to speak with people working across the sector to gain an insight into the real world of health and care work.

    It will be a highly interactive experience. Students will follow a simulated patient’s journey led by health and social care professionals. They will be shown how the person experiences care in an emergency department, a hospital ward, their local GP and back to the community, and the different roles that are required to deliver this care.

    After watching the patient journey, many other careers will be showcased in a careers marketplace with representation from local health and care providers from Barnsley including staff members from Barnsley Hospital, South West Yorkshire NHS Foundation Trust, South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, Barnsley’s Primary Care Network, Barnsley Council and further and education providers.

    Students will need to arrive at school at the usual time in full school uniform. They will need to meet Mr Gates the canteen at 8.25am who will register students and brief them on their conduct and what they can expect from the trip. The coach will depart at approximately 8.40am and return to school by approximately 12 noon at the latest. There will be no cost to students and students can have lunch in school as usual, upon our return.

    Unfortunately, there are a limited number of places available so please complete the relevant form by Thursday 7th November.

    **Completion of this form is not confirmation of your child’s place. Please also be mindful that the trip leader can remove a child’s place on the trip should they have any concerns regarding attendance or behaviour prior to the trip taking place.

    If you would like your child to attend, please complete the Google Form located via the link below;
