Northern Education Trust Kirk Balk Academy are once again delighted by the successes of our students in what has been an unprecedented year for all of those involved.
As the traditional summer examinations were unable to be completed this year, instead the Centre Assessed Grades or ‘CAG’ process was used to help determine student grades, and the hard work of everyone at Kirk Balk Academy has led to a great occasion for all of our students.
To celebrate these incredible achievements, we felt that it was important that all of our students were still able to experience a Results Day. On the day, they were given one of four potential slots to collect their results, a free Leavers’ Hoodie to commemorate their time at the academy, a chance to speak to college providers about post-school options and equally as important as these, the chance to share their achievements with friends and classmates (albeit following social distancing measures) who they may not have seen since March.
Amongst these results, there were some outstanding individual performances including Amy H, who achieved 9s across all subjects, who said: “It has been a really nervous few months waiting for my results, all the way up to receiving my envelope on Thursday. I am absolutely delighted with my results and I am pleased that ultimately, all of my hard work throughout my time at school has paid off and I can now celebrate my achievements!”
Another student Murray C, commented: “I am so proud of myself and can’t thank the teachers enough for their support over the years. The feeling was amazing to open the envelope and to see my results which I can carry with me into the future.”
Year 11 student Abigail F, said: “I’m so proud of what I have achieved, it is great to feel like all of the hard work I have put in over my time at school has been worth it”
Principal Dean Buckley said: “It has been another phenomenal year of effort from all of our students. We would like to thank each and every one of them for their patience in waiting for their results, which this year has seemingly been a long time coming due to the lockdown period.
Despite all of the uncertainty and difficulty that this year has brought, it gives me a wonderful sense of pride to celebrate the achievements of our students as they take their next steps into future education and employment and into what will undoubtedly lead to their successful futures.”
On the behalf of all staff at Kirk Balk Academy, we would like to say that we are immensely proud of every student for the work and effort that they have dedicated to their studies over the past five years. Whilst it is always difficult to see any cohort of students leave, we know that our students now have the tools to be successful in whatever their career paths may be. We would like to wish all of our students the best in the future, we will forever be proud of you all.
