On Saturday 8th February, 40 of our Year 11 students made the trip to North Shore Academy in order to participate in the 2020 Northern Education Trust Literature Conference.
At this event, students were able to particpate in workshops created by university lecturers whilst also having the opportunity to develop strategies that will help them in their GCSE exams.
The highlight of the day came from a seminar hosted by poet Jane Weir followed by a unique lecture delivered by Poet Laureate Simon Armitage. This allowed the students to learn about the poems that they had studied all year from the poets themselves who provided useful tips and hints on how some of their words could be best explained and analysed.
We are extremely proud of all of the students who attended. It takes a great deal of dedication to give up a full Saturday to study poetry. However, this once again highlights the commitment our students have towards securing their undoubted exam success in the Summer when all of their hard work will pay off!
