Sporting Success continues at Kirk Balk

On 5 October 2019, the Year 7 boys were able to overcome large odds to win 8-6 in their English Schools Football Association Cup tie against Mirfield Free Grammar. It was a solid performance from all the boys involved considering the constant rain and the pitch resembling a mud bath by the end of 90 minutes.

This meant the boys had to dig in for a hard fought victory against a strong Mirfield side. Goals from Elliot M, Elliot K, Lucas x2, Connor Kane and a 25 yard screamer from Alfie Bagnall sealed the victory with a strong man-of-the-match display from Jake J who cut out numerous Mirfield attacks.

The boys represented the school with pride and maintained a great attitude throughout. They are now eagerly awaiting the draw for the next round in the near future.

Alongside this success, the Under 13 Girls have shared in the success by successfully winning the EFL Girls Cup and will now go on to represent Barnsley FC against other professional clubs in the competition.
