Students at Kirk Balk Academy, one of ten secondary Academies sponsored by Northern Education Trust, have achieved their best-ever GCSE results.
A staggering 75% of students overall achieved a pass in English and Maths, demonstrating a good improvement on last year’s results. In addition, 56% of students achieved a strong pass in both English and Maths, much higher than the national average.
There were some outstanding individual successes, including the top performing boy and girl – Luke Davey and Evie Shore – who both achieved a full suite of top grades, with Luke achieving 3 x grade 9s, 5 x grade 8s and 2 x grade 7s; and Evie Shore achieving 2 x grade 9s, 2 x grade 8s, 3 x grade 7s and a Distinction*.
Dean Buckley, Principal of Kirk Balk Academy thanked the students and staff for their dedication, saying: “We are so happy for our students who really deserve these results. I am delighted that their hard work and commitment has been rewarded with these excellent results. It makes their efforts worthwhile. I would like to express my thanks to staff for their continued commitment – the results are testament to their constant support, energy and enthusiasm”.
